We have a TV in our room that only speaks Thai.

Welp, we made it to Thailand! We got here early Sunday morning after 33 hours of travel time. Surprisingly we've been doing pretty well with jetlag.

We started our TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course yesterday and it's a lot of fun. There are about ten students in our class, about half of which are from the U.S., including us (which our teacher says is very unusual because normally there's only one or two), and the rest of the class is from the U.K. Everyone is very cool and we're having a lot of fun getting to know everybody.

Our apartment is nothing to write home about. Or blog about. Haha. But we have wireless internet in our room which is very convenient. The bathroom doorway is made for people who are under 5'7", which means that both Kat and I have to duck every time we walk in. Unfortuately I learned this the hard way. My first time into the bathroom I banged my head on the sharp edge of the doorway. Then I cried a little bit. Then it felt better.

Today we have our first assignment as far as teaching goes. We're interviewing Thai students in English, and recording our conversations. Then we have to transcribe it and go over the mistakes with the student that he or she made.

One of the things that Katharina and I really like about the class is that we have a 1 hour Thai lesson everyday from our teacher's wife, Ying. Oh yeah, our teacher is John and he's from England, and his wife is from Thailand. They're both really fun and really nice. Anyway, the Thai lessons are a lot of fun.

Yesterday we got a cell phone. You can't get a monthly contract unless you are Thai, but the pre-paid phone cards are pretty cheap. So I don't know exactly how to call Thailand from the U.S., but our phone number here is 080-673-0769 if anyone needs to get a hold of us. But if you call you have to remember that we're 14 hours ahead. That leaves a window of opportunity of like 3 hours.

The first thing I ate when I got here was a bunch of fresh rolls. They were so good I wanted to cry. Katharina's been loving the mangoes and sticky rice. And all the yummylicious fruit.

That's about all I can think of right now. I'm a little murfed 'cause we just woke up. But we'll post again soon. Bye!

Jeff, remember all those funny phrases you taught Kathy when she first moved here? I'm afraid to see what you teach your Thai students.
