So we actually haven't been able to step outside without getting completely drenched for the last 3 days now

It's the Thai New Year and traditionally this is celebrated with the gentle pouring of water on one another. However, over centuries this tradition has evolved into the world's largest waterfight. It's INSANE!!! Thousands and thousands of people line the streets with squirtguns, bottles, bowls, buckets and hoses and try to soak as many people as possible. There are also people piled into the backs of trucks with these weapons and many of them also add ice to their water..brrr... Again... it is IMPOSSIBLE to be outside and stay dry. We of course had to get revenge and entered the war with a squirtgun with a huge tank you wear on your back and a big bucket. Jeff was better at the bucket, so I was glad to have the squirtgun.

The festival started on Friday (unofficially) is going to continue until Tuesday or Wednesday (we haven't actually gotten a straight answer on that yet) but all schools are closed until Thursday.

Yesterday, they had a huge parade through the downtown where they carried floats with Buddha statues from all the surrounding temples. People then "washed" the statues by pouring water over them or just splashing them from far away. It was very interesting.

Today, there was a HUGE party near the downtown. It lasted all day and it was very fun. They had about 4 stages set up with bands playing and water splashing and foam machines. I don't even know what to compare it to but Thais sure know how to party.

Tomorrow we're going to take advantage of our break and go out of town for a few days. We're trying to decide between Chiang Rai and Pai. I guess we'll figure that out when we get to the bus station... :)

It takes really long to upload pictures here so we're going to add a ton of pictures and some videos to our Facebook accounts when we come back.

Miss you guys...
